Aussie Poms are smaller dogs and they tend to be active and affectionate. With that said, personalities can vary depending on which parent breed the puppy takes after more. They usually have a wedge-shaped head with a short snout. Most Aussie Poms will have a fluffy coat and they can come in a range of colors. Common colors for this breed include brown, black, merle, red merle and white.
Origin of the Aussie Pom
The Aussie Pom is a newer designer dog breed that is a mix of the Australian Shepherd and Pomeranian. While mixes of these two breeds may have existed in the past, designers first started intentionally breeding this hybrid in the early 2000s. They are most popular in North America, so it is believed that this is the original home of the Aussie Pom.
Is a Aussie Pom right for me?
If an Aussie Pom is your choice, you better be prepared for a dog that is intelligent and active. As much as they love to play, they also enjoy spending time curled up next to their owner. You just need to provide the dog with enough stimulation and it will be very happy to be your companion around the house.
