The Cavalier-Schnauzer or King Schnauzer is an adaptable breed that can do well in a variety of settings. It is smaller so it can do well in smaller homes and apartments, and it is also known for being patient and loving, so it can be a great family dog. The coats tend to resemble that of the Miniature Schnauzer more than the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. These dogs are smart and trainable, but they have a lot of energy and behavior problems can arise if they do not receive the exercise and playtime they need.
Origin of the Cavalier-Schnauzer
The Cavalier-Schnauzer is a hybrid of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Miniature Schnauzer. Being a newer designer breed, its exact origins are unknown, but it is believed that the first intentional pairings of these two breeds occurred within the last few decades in the United States.
