About Chorkies
The Chorkie is silly and outgoing, but is an extremely loyal companion. Sometimes it can be loyal to the point of showing stranger aggression if not properly socialized. They have a very high energy level and do best with someone who is always active or busy around the house. They will be your shadow, and will often watch you do daily activities while trying to “help”.
They are prone to a few health issues that include skin problems, allergies, and hypothyroidism. In addition to these conditions they are predisposed to, they will also periodically need their anal glands expressed, as with many small or toy breeds. Ear cleanings can also prevent them from getting ear infections.
Origin of the Chorkie
The Chorkie may have naturally occurred at some point, but in the early 1990s designer dog breeders began creating them intentionally. By breeding Chihuahuas and Yorkies, the tiny, loveable Chorkie came to be.
Is a Chorkie right for me?
If you choose a Chorkie as your new companion, you should be ready to keep them active and interested. They will integrate easily with your other pets, but will require human interaction to fight off bouts of separation anxiety.
