The Miniature Schnauzer has a double coat, with the top coat being wirely and the undercoat being soft. Miniature Schnauzers don’t shed much, due to the undercoat catching most of the shedded hair, but they should still be groomed regularly every five to eight weeks. They tend to be very affectionate with their family and enjoy being in their company. They are an energetic breed and needs regular exercise, they enjoy going on short walks and playing with their family. Miniature Schnauzers are a highly intelligent breed who are capable learning tricks and other feats. Their vocal nature make them great watch dogs, but they are very friendly with guests who are welcome in your home.
Origin of the Mini Schnauzer
Originating from Germany, the Miniature Schnauzer has its origins as a ratter. They gained their popularity on farms where they needed a smaller dog that didn’t take as much space and cost less to feed. Before indoor plumbing, they were considered a necessity in houses.
