Mastiffs have a tendency toward laziness and need regular exercise. They crave stimulation, and as adults are known for being extremely well mannered, calm, and quiet. They are known to drool but otherwise they are a very easily maintained breed. However they do appreciate a regular brushing. Mastiffs do best when they are immersed in family life and not alone outside as they are not as independent as other breeds.
The Mastiff is characterized by a broad wrinkled forehead with a kind alert expression. Their bodies are rectangular and heavily muscled. Their coats are short and are most often fawn, brindle, or apricot in coloration.
Origin of the Neopolitan Mastiff
The Mastiff is a dog bred around 5000 years ago in Asia. However, the Neapolitan Mastiff traces its lineage back to the guard dogs of central Italy. They are known in modern times to be loyal companions and family guardians.
Is a Neopolitan Mastiff right for me?
