They come in a short and longhaired version which can come in various colorations including shades of red and white. They may also have a black mask.
Origin of the Saint Bernard
The Saint Bernard originated in the Swiss Alps around 1000 years ago. This dog was developed by a monk named Bernard of Menthon and employed as a rescuer for travelers who were in distress due to deep snow and drifts. The breed has been credited with thousands of saved lives since the breeds founding.
