Origin of the Vizsla
The Vizsla, also called Velcro Vizsla, is a medium-sized dog who descended from the canines of the Magyar warriors who came and settled in Hungary. They were used as pointers and retrievers working closely with the hunters and were also companions to Hungarian nobles and warlords. Vizslas are among the smallest hunter breeds. The breed has been around for more than 1,000 years but first came to the United States in 1950. It is the first breed to have a quintuple champion in the history of the American Kennel Club.
